Our first edition
The Great Financial Convergence examines access to financial services and the hypothesis that banks and fintechs are moving toward shared functions. The article combines documented World Bank observations with a labelled conceptual diagram.
How we use data
Sources, reference years and definitions accompany each chart. Missing observations stay missing. Survey ownership is distinguished from provider account counts, legal permissions and usage. Regional summaries and country extracts retain their separate provenance.
Institutional convergence is a research question, not a score in this edition. The original quotation’s attribution remains unverified and is omitted.
